Person article blueprint
Each biography should include a concise lead, infobox, early history, playing career where applicable, competitive record, major championships, course/tournament/organizational work, records, Hall recognition, Museum collection, and references. Articles should explain historical significance rather than merely list achievements.

Biographical standard
Living-person pages require especially careful sourcing, neutral language, and respect for privacy. Every competitive claim should connect to an Event page or clearly identified source. Hall recognition should link to the relevant Hall and induction class.

First research priorities
* Gregg Hosfeld
* People central to Women of Flying Disc Sports
* Champions and organizers documented by the Museum’s strongest primary sources
* Florida Flying Disc Hall of Fame inductees connected to the physical exhibit

WikiAdmin: Repair encoding and publish museum wiki skeleton

The National Disc Golf Museum Wiki is being built as a museum-backed, community-expanded, citation-driven history. You do not need to become a full wiki editor to help preserve knowledge.

Ways to help
Identify something
Name a player in a photograph, recognize a course or disc, or confirm a location. Record how confident you are and how you know.

Suggest a correction
Flag a spelling, date, division, score, course name, champion, placement, or other factual problem and provide the best available source.

Share a memory
Preserve a firsthand recollection with your relationship to the subject. Memories are valuable historical evidence, but are labeled as personal accounts and are not automatically treated as verified fact.

Add evidence
Contribute or identify a flyer, scorecard, results sheet, catalog, article, program, photograph, map, rulebook, advertisement, or other source. Do not upload copyrighted or private material without authorization.

Improve an article
Experienced contributors can use the visual editor to improve prose, sections, citations, links, and categories. Trusted contributors may later help review edits, resolve conflicts, and mentor new editors.

Current access
Public reading is open. Editing accounts are currently managed by the Museum while contribution forms, review queues, source rules, and moderation procedures are prepared. Contact details and guided submission links will appear here after those workflows are approved.

Focused community projects
* Identify the Players — 1970s and 1980s Photo Month
* Complete Florida Course Histories
* Build the 1980s Tournament Results Index
* Document Your First Disc Golf Course
* Upload Missing Tournament Flyers
* Adopt a Tournament Series
* Preserve Your Club’s History

Contributor standard
Say what you know, how you know it, and what source supports it. Separate eyewitness memory from verification. Be respectful, neutral, and especially careful with living people.

A
; Artifact
: A human-made or modified object studied as historical evidence.

D
; Disc golf
: A target sport in which players complete a course by throwing a flying disc toward designated targets. A fuller definition should cite current rules and historical usage.

; Flying disc
: A general term for a disc designed or used for throwing and flight. Product names and trademarks should not be used as universal synonyms without context.

M
; Mold
: In collecting and manufacturing contexts, a term that may refer to tooling or to the product form created from it; articles should specify the intended meaning.

P
; Provenance
: The documented history of an object’s ownership, custody, and use.

S
; Stamp
: Printed or transferred decoration and information applied to a disc; not necessarily identical to the disc model or mold.

Research Desk

2026-08-17T01:33:10Z

WikiAdmin: Repair encoding and publish museum wiki skeleton

The Research Desk coordinates open historical questions and source work for the National Disc Golf Museum Wiki.

Current priorities
# Source the landmark-object sequence: Frisbie pie tin, Flyin-Saucer, and Pluto Platter.
# Build the PDGA World Championships edition and records framework.
# Build a milestone chronology and initial biographies for Women of Flying Disc Sports.
# Create a claim-level chronology for Early disc golf.
# Index digitized issues described in Publications and Media.

How to contribute research
Record the full citation, where the source can be consulted, the exact claim it supports, relevant page or timestamp, and any rights or access restriction. Do not upload copyrighted material without authorization.

Questions and conflicting evidence
Preserve competing well-sourced accounts in neutral language. Use article discussion pages to document editorial decisions and unresolved conflicts.

Museum research services
Institutional contact and appointment information will be added when a public research-access policy is approved.

Glossary of disc golf and Flying Disc terms

2026-08-17T01:33:09Z

WikiAdmin: Repair encoding and publish museum wiki skeleton

This glossary defines historical, technical, organizational, and collecting terms used across the wiki.

A
; Artifact
: A human-made or modified object studied as historical evidence.

D
; Disc golf
: A target sport in which players complete a course by throwing a flying disc toward designated targets. A fuller definition should cite current rules and historical usage.

F
; Flying disc
: A general term for a disc designed or used for throwing and flight. Product names and trademarks should not be used as universal synonyms without context.

M
; Mold
: In collecting and manufacturing contexts, a term that may refer to tooling or to the product form created from it; articles should specify the intended meaning.

P
; Provenance
: The documented history of an object’s ownership, custody, and use.

S
; Stamp
: Printed or transferred decoration and information applied to a disc; not necessarily identical to the disc model or mold.

Timeline of Flying Disc history

2026-08-17T01:33:07Z

WikiAdmin: Repair encoding and publish museum wiki skeleton

This timeline of Flying Disc history will connect dated events to full articles and primary sources. It is an index, not a substitute for historical explanation.

Before 1900
Add only events supported by dated evidence.

1900–1949
Research manufacturing, popular play, terminology, and precursor accounts.

1950–1969
Research purpose-built products, business histories, new games, clubs, and early organized activity.

1970–1989
Research courses, organizations, rules, manufacturers, media, and expanding competition.

1990–2009
Research professionalization, technology, media, international growth, and community institutions.

2010–present
Use stable secondary and primary sources; avoid turning the timeline into a news feed.

Inclusion standard
Every entry needs an event date, concise description, place where relevant, one reliable citation, and a link to a full article or research note.
